Women in Revolution Webinar Recording Now Available

18 September 2026

The Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland has released the recording of its Women in Revolution webinar, which explores the central role played by women in revolutionary movements from the seventeenth to the twentieth century.

The webinar features introductory remarks from Joel Herman (Trinity College Dublin), followed by short talks from leading historians Jane Ohlmeyer (Trinity College Dublin), Catriona Kennedy (University of York), and Lindsey Earner-Byrne (Trinity College Dublin). Together, the speakers examine the revolutionary lives of women across different historical periods, drawing out important continuities and contrasts from the seventeenth century and the Age of Revolutions through to the twentieth-century Irish Revolution.

Presented in connection with States of Independence: Ireland and the American Revolution 250 Years Later, a curated collection launched by the Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland in June 2026, the webinar highlights the contributions of women to revolutionary change across centuries and encourages new perspectives on their historical significance.
