Who WILL They Think You Are? - Data Speculations

an artistic installation composed of overlapping, angled sheets of white paper and newspaper clippings standing upright on a white pedestal in a gallery space. The sheets have large red letters spelling out "TOTAL" and smaller blocks of text, some of which read: "Citizen Autonomy Bill Delayed: Changes Will Not Affect Our Current Lifestyles" and "You received 1,000 more likes than usual from the same security camera in the last minute today." More exhibits are visible lining the walls in the background.

A new exhibition by NCAD Design Bureau, created for Science Week and presented at Beta Festival 2025 with Wove and the Research Ireland ADAPT Centre.

Every click, choice, movement, and micro-interaction shapes a data profile — one you never see, yet one that increasingly defines you.

This exhibition imagines speculative futures for 2055, asking what everyday life might look like when data regimes fully mature:

What if your meals were dictated by real-time biometric scoring?

What if your dog’s behaviour adjusted your house insurance?

What if data profiles could keep loved ones “alive” long after death?

Provocative, unsettling, and occasionally absurd, these scenarios remind us that data futures aren’t inevitable — they’re shaped by the choices society makes now.
