A new article from the VOICES project, Digital Humanities and Artificial Intelligence in Women’s History: The VOICES Project (Ireland), has been published in the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Gender and Women’s History.
Written by researchers at ADAPT and the Trinity College Dublin School of Computer Science and Statistics, including Lucy McKenna and Declan O’Sullivan, the chapter explores how AI, Knowledge Graphs, Linked Open Data, and Semantic Web technologies can transform the study of women’s history in early modern Ireland.
The publication introduces the growing availability of Irish historical datasets and presents case studies based on Irish Court of Chancery and testamentary records. It also examines how ethical and transparent AI-driven approaches can help recover the lived experiences and marginalised voices of women from historical archives.
