The Research Ireland ADAPT Centre & Beta Festival to warmly invite you to the opening of our S+T+ARTS4Water exhibition, Undercurrent: As Below, So Above, at Dublin Port this November: S+T+ARTS4WaterII Exhibition Invite – Thurs 6th Nov, 3pm
The exhibition is part of the European Commission’s S+T+ARTS (Science + Technology + the Arts) programme, which fosters collaboration between artists, researchers, and industry to drive inclusive innovation across Europe. This major EU initiative is dedicated to reimagining the role of science and technology through artistic inquiry, encouraging experimental projects that bridge creativity and research to address urgent environmental and societal challenges.
Over the past year we had artists in residence in Dublin Port, Galway Port and Belfast Port as well as collaborating with ADAPT Research Centre’s researchers. Undercurrent: As Below, So Above features three extraordinary works developed through residencies with these ports by artists Siobhán McDonald, Kat Austen, and Lauren Moffatt. Each project uses advanced technologies – from AI and immersive VR to environmental sensing – to explore water systems, climate resilience, and the future of our coastal ecologies. The exhibition exemplifies how art and research can converge to inspire new modes of thinking and innovation around sustainability, data, and technology.
We would be delighted if you could join us for the opening Undercurrent: As Below, So Above at Dublin Port, Substation on Thursday 6 November 2025 at 3pm at the official S+T+ARTS4Water preview event that inaugurates Beta Festival’s 2025 edition.
