Trinity & ADAPT Project Sea-Scan Named Finalist in Tech Excellence Awards 2026

20 April 2026

ADAPT has been shortlisted for The Public Sector Project of the Year at the Tech Excellence Awards 2026, in recognition of its collaboration with Trinity College Dublin on the Sea-Scan initiative.

Led by Marco Ruffini and John Kennedy (Trinity College Dublin), the Sea-Scan project focuses on developing advanced real-time vessel detection technology. The system aims to strengthen Ireland’s ability to monitor maritime activity, including identifying so-called “dark” vessels that evade traditional tracking methods. The project is seen as a key step toward enhancing national security and economic resilience. Beyond security applications, the technology also shows promise in environmental monitoring, supporting broader national resilience efforts.

The Public Sector Project of the Year award recognises vendors and solution providers delivering impactful technology across government departments and semi-state bodies. ADAPT and Trinity join a competitive shortlist that includes Annertech and Provident CRM, Digital Government Authority, Esri Ireland in partnership with Dublin Fire Brigade and TLI Group, evcoms, HSE – MN-CMS EHR – Phase 2, Imvizar, and the National Shared Services Office (NSSO) with Storm Technology.

Winners will be announced on the 14th May 2026 at the Royal Marine Hotel, Dublin.
