TRANSMIXR featured at IBC 2025, the world’s leading broadcast media and technology event, held at the RAI Amsterdam from September 12–15. The company presented its latest broadcast and news use cases on the EBU Tech & Innovation stand, drawing industry attention with its innovative applications.
A key highlight was TRANSMIXR’s role in the world’s first live news bulletin broadcast in virtual reality. The groundbreaking production was delivered from TG4 headquarters in Ireland, with technology developed by Immersion and supported by TUS, CERTH, CWI, VRAI, TCD, and other consortium partners. TG4’s Director of Operations & HR, Trevor Ó Clochartaigh, joined the broadcast live from IBC, while a select audience in Athlone experienced the news in VR.
TRANSMIXR also received a trophy for its success in last year’s IBC Accelerator competition. The winning project, Evolution of the Control Room, was led by Grace Dinan of TUS in collaboration with Google, BBC, Cuez & ITN, TV2 Danmark, Channel 4, nxtEdition, XReco, and others. Grace’s technical paper, leveraging AI to reduce technical expertise in media production and optimise workflows, was featured at the convention.
Led by Dr. Niall Murray, a researcher at TUS and the ADAPT Centre, TRANSMIXR is focused on developing innovative tools for industries such as news media, broadcasting, performing arts, and cultural heritage. These tools aim to help organisations better understand large-scale media content and deliver next-generation immersive experiences powered by Social XR technologies.
