The TRANSMIXR project, a cutting-edge Horizon Europe research initiative led by the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), recently convened in Vienna for what is expected to be its final in-person consortium meeting. With just five months remaining, the meeting marked a crucial milestone in the project’s three-year journey to revolutionise the Cultural and Creative Sectors (CCS) through advanced AI and Extended Reality (XR) technologies.
Led by Dr. Niall Murray, a researcher at TUS and the ADAPT Centre, TRANSMIXR is focused on developing innovative tools for industries such as news media, broadcasting, performing arts, and cultural heritage. These tools aim to help organisations better understand large-scale media content and deliver next-generation immersive experiences powered by Social XR technologies.
During the Vienna meeting, consortium members engaged in collaborative discussions, presentations, and brainstorming sessions to assess the latest progress. Project pilots are now nearly fully operational, with extensive evaluations and user testing well underway. Feedback from these tests has been instrumental in refining the project’s outputs.
Technological developments are nearing completion, with final adjustments being made to ensure functionality and user value. Meanwhile, the dissemination and communication teams are actively engaging the public and stakeholders, sharing the project’s advancements and insights.
As TRANSMIXR approaches its conclusion, the consortium is shifting focus outward to ensure widespread adoption of its outcomes across the broader CCS ecosystem. The team is gearing up for high-profile appearances at industry events such as IBC, Stereopsia 2025, and other key platforms to showcase their work and connect with potential partners.
