The third call for proposals is opening today (July 15th) and the deadline to submit applications is 15th of October 2021 5 pm Irish time. ELITE-S is a Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND Action for an intersectoral training, career development and mobility fellowship programme, based at the ADAPT Centre in Dublin City University and its academic partners.
There are currently 7 positions available in this final and last call for the programme. Candidates are free to submit their project idea in the 28 technology and application areas with a clear impact on standards. Areas such as Artificial Intelligence, 5g, Cybersecurity, and Data Governance are some of the areas in ELITE-S. Applications are done directly on the website.
ELITE-S has already recruited 9 experienced researchers for a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in Ireland and who are currently going through a robust training and development programme aiming at forming the next generation of research leaders in ICT Standardization in Europe.
Our current fellows have, in a short period of time, been invited to testify at the Irish Parliament, won the NSAI Standards innovation award in 2020, and have joined the National Standards mirror committees in AI and e-health and provided high-quality comments on selected ISO standards.
The exposure to interdisciplinary, international and intersectoral collaboration has increased our fellows’ research career profile attracting the eyes of other institutions. One of our fellows has already left the programme to take on an assistant professorship role in Sophia, France.
A strong skillset in advanced research and transferrable skills has allowed our fellows to take the lead in organizing high impact conferences such as the 4th International Workshop on Geospatial Linked Data, and another fellow was invited to organize a worldwide Special Issue on 6G and beyond networks.
To apply for an ELITE-S fellowship, candidates must contact an approved supervisor from the website to discuss their research idea and develop a 10-page proposal. The evaluation and selection process takes 3 months and fellowships are expected to be awarded in January 2022.
