The Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland has been nominated for two major categories at the upcoming Digital Media Awards: Best in Government and Not for Profit and Best Collaboration. The ceremony will take place on Friday, 10th October, at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel.
The recognition marks a significant milestone for the project, celebrating its innovation and excellence in digital heritage research. Supported by the Irish Government with funding from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media under Project Ireland 2040, the Virtual Treasury is a flagship research project led by Trinity College Dublin and the ADAPT Centre.
Through cutting-edge digital reconstruction, the project virtually recreates seven centuries of Irish historical records destroyed during the 1922 Four Courts fire, an extraordinary effort to digitally restore Ireland’s lost national archive.
