Solidarity in the Face of Hate

14 August 2025

ADAPT stands in solidarity with our researchers, staff and friends from the Indian community in the wake of the recent, terrible attacks.

ADAPT is a community of scholars, from all parts of the world, brought together by a shared love of learning and in the service of the wider public. Our diversity has long been one of our greatest strengths, and we have been enriched by the contributions of Ph.D. students, postdoctoral fellows, and researchers from India, as well as from other countries around the world.  It is shocking and saddening that some people have been attacked because of where they come from, and that many others feel unsafe on our streets as a result. Such unlawful acts betray the values and history that define our country.  We, in ADAPT, reaffirm our commitment to the values of inclusion, and reject all attempts to exclude, attack, marginalise, or discriminate against any community.

ADAPT offers its full support to all members of the Indian community, and to anyone who is experiencing racist threats or intimidation.  We are proud to provide a home to talented researchers from Ireland, India and beyond, and are proud to welcome and support global citizens to our community and we always will.
