A senior delegation from Beijing’s Shijingshan District visited Dublin and Galway this week to explore long-term collaboration opportunities with Ireland’s innovation sector. As part of their visit, the group met with researchers and innovation leaders at ADAPT hosted at Trinity College Dublin.
The delegation included six senior government officials, led by the General Secretary, the highest-ranking official in Shijingshan District, along with two representatives from the State Development and Investment Corporation (SDIC), one of China’s largest state-owned investment firms.
The visit to ADAPT highlighted shared interests in AI, data, and digital transformation, with discussions focused on opportunities for research collaboration, technology exchange, and enterprise partnerships.
Shijingshan District, known as the “Western Gate” to downtown Beijing, has evolved from a traditional industrial base into a modern innovation hub. It is home to the Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park and plays a key role in China’s science and technology strategy.
The visit marked a step toward strengthening connections between China and Ireland’s research and innovation ecosystems.
