Rebecca McManus, CEO and co-founder of Amethyst Care, recently joined Pat Flynn on the Coffee with Your Therapist podcast, produced with MYNDGARD, to discuss how her company is transforming elder care through AI. Amethyst Care has developed a voice technology companion designed to support people with mobility-related illnesses at home, enabling them to live independently for longer through two-way communication that also helps combat loneliness.
The company secured commercialisation funding from Trinity Innovation KnEx Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise Ireland, with the project now at the clinical trial stage. McManus conceived the idea five years ago and has advanced it in collaboration with both ADAPT and Enterprise Ireland. She describes the technology as a game-changer for elder care in both home and institutional settings, offering practical support while enriching lives.
