Ray Walshe, a senior researcher at the ADAPT Centre in Dublin City University has been recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Big Data Value Association (BDVA). BDVA is an industry-driven international not-for-profit organisation that comprises large, small, and medium-sized industries as well as research and user organisations.
Ray Walshe has been representing the ADAPT Centre in Dublin City University for many years as the Chair of BDVA Standards Task Force. His election to the Board will now allow him to play a key role in spearheading BDVA’s work to enable the digital transformation of industries, economy and society through data and artificial intelligence by creating groundbreaking work in big data, industrial AI, data-driven value creation, standardisation, AI technologies and services, and more. Professor Walshe is also Chair at many prestigious organisations including United Nations Economic Committee, StandICT.eu, to name a few.
While talking about this important milestone, Ray Walshe said: “I am truly honoured to have been elected to the Board of Directors of BDVA – Big Data Value Association with special thanks to the President Hahn Thomas, VP Research Edward Curry and SecGen Ana Garcia Robles. Representing ADAPT for many years as the Chair of BDVA Standards Task Force has given me great pleasure and I will continue to engage with ISO/IEC/JTC 1, ETSI and CEN and CENELEC in setting the strategy for artificial intelligence and data standards.”
