A new initiative, AI², was officially launched in Dublin on Thursday, 25th September 2025 at EY Wavespace, Harcourt Street, aiming to accelerate the responsible and inclusive adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) across Ireland. The programme brought together leaders from business, academia, and civil society to create a national blueprint for AI implementation that balances innovation, trust, and societal benefit.
The event featured a keynote from Kim Henriksson of AI Sweden, who shared insights from Sweden’s national AI initiative, including its impact on competitiveness, skills development, and societal outcomes. Additional sessions highlighted real-world applications of AI in education, public services, and business, with practical guidance on how Ireland can scale AI adoption while maintaining trust, inclusion, and competitiveness.
The AI² initiative is being led by experts across technology, business, and academia, with strong links to Ireland’s AI evolving ecosystem. It will be of interest to industry leaders (especially SMEs), higher education and research institutions, public sector organisations, policy makers, ethics and governance experts, and anyone involved in AI development or adoption in Ireland.
ADAPT Centre participated in the launch, with Louise McCormack leading the Safety and Trustworthiness AI pillar, alongside Jamie Hackett (Red Hat) and Paula Kelly (TU Dublin).
