ADAPT Spinout, MoveAhead, has secured third place at the prestigious Sport Innovation Challenge. The event, hosted by ThinkSport and created by the International Olympic Committee and the Canton of Vaud, took place at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.
Founded by Dr Johann Issartel and Dr Jamie McGann in 2020, MoveAhead started as an ADAPT Spinout and has since developed into an incredibly successful Irish tech company. MoveAhead impressed judges with its proprietary technology, designed to integrate physical activity into children’s digital experiences. Developed in response to increasingly sedentary lifestyles among young people, the platform uses body tracking technology to encourage movement through safe, engaging and personalised interactions. Designed specifically for children, it prioritises security by capturing only skeletal data and converting it into numerical values.
Competing in the Youth Engagement category, MoveAhead showcased how its technology meets children in their digital environments to help them build essential movement skills and foster a positive connection to physical activity and sport. The recognition reflects the company’s commitment to blending innovative technology with joyful play to promote health, confidence and lifelong movement in children.
