ADAPT welcomed a delegation from Minnesota, USA, as part of a wider mission to build transatlantic connections, learn from Ireland’s innovation ecosystem, and explore opportunities for collaboration in areas spanning AI, enterprise, and agritech.

The Minnesota group included representatives from local government, higher education, healthcare, business development, and the non-profit sector.  They were from Greater Mankato Growth, City of St. Peter, the Regional Economic Development Alliance (REDA), Gustavus Adolphus College, Great River Energy, South Central College, the Mankato Area Foundation Board and Minnesota State Colleges & Universities.

During their time at Trinity College Dublin, the delegation was welcomed by representatives from the ADAPT Centre, including Conor McNally, Business & Startup Manager, and Olivia Waters, along with Dr David O’Connell, Assistant Professor in Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering, and Ruth Clinton from E3. The programme featured insights into ADAPT’s startup ecosystem, along with innovative research in sustainable agriculture, and Ireland’s university spinout landscape.

Speaking at the visit, ADAPT highlighted the importance of multi-disciplinary collaboration in shaping a balanced digital society, while the Minnesota visitors shared perspectives on regional development, education, and healthcare innovation in their State.

The visit was organised by Liz Maguire of Littus, a company that brings together organisations looking to foster transatlantic collaboration.
