Date: 5–6 November 2026 Venue: Dexcom Stadium, Galway, Ireland Occasion: Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union
The International Conference on Language Diversity and Technology aims to establish a global platform showcasing how technology and artificial intelligence (AI) can support under-resourced languages.
Building on Ireland’s strengths as a hub for language and technology innovation, the event will connect major technology companies with the international language technology research community.
The conference is envisaged as the first in a series of European gatherings held every six months across successive EU Council presidencies, establishing a recurring forum dedicated to low-resource languages and AI.
Speakers will explore the wider context of AI development, recognising that language, culture and politics are as important as the technology itself. Discussions will also consider the European Union’s role in fostering more collaborative and representative AI development that serves the needs of the people who use it.
The audience will include industry representatives working in AI and language technology, academics specialising in natural language processing (NLP) and language technologies, including minority languages, and European representatives such as commissioners, ambassadors and representatives of European language projects.
The second day of the conference, 6 November, will be dedicated to research and will feature a poster session beginning at 1pm. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak directly with researchers about their work in AI, language technologies and low-resource languages.
Posters will be displayed on free-standing boards, allowing attendees to move freely and engage with researchers. They will be exhibited on both 5 and 6 November, enabling participants who cannot attend the second day to explore the research.
The poster session aims to encourage meaningful exchanges between industry, researchers and the general public, while raising awareness of current research in AI, language technologies and low-resource languages.
Researchers are invited to present a poster showcasing any of their current research relevant to the conference theme.
If you would like to attend and present a poster, please confirm your participation by emailing [email protected] and [email protected] no later than 23 October 2026.
Please attach the final version of your poster as a PDF, including your name and affiliation.
Poster requirements:
Posters can be printed by the organisers for presenters.
Places are limited due to space constraints, and not all requests may be accommodated. Early responses are therefore encouraged.
Researchers are also welcome to attend the conference and its talks without presenting a poster.
