For Tech’s Sake Marks 100 Episodes with Live Recording Featuring Adapt’s Dr. Abeba Birhane

21 April 2026

The podcast For Tech’s Sake recently celebrated its 100th episode with a live recording event, inviting listeners to be part of the milestone moment. The special edition featured the return of ADAPT at Trinity College Dublin’s Dr Abeba Birhane, founder of the AI Accountability Lab, for an engaging and thought-provoking discussion on the ethics of artificial intelligence. The event and podcast was hosted by Elaine Burke and Kelly Earley.

The event blended light-hearted and serious moments, kicking off with a lively round of “Good Tech, Bad Tech” before moving into a deeper conversation on the moral challenges surrounding AI. Dr Birhane spoke candidly about the complexities of critiquing AI systems, particularly in an industry often driven by rapid innovation and concentrated power.

Central to the discussion was the work of the AI Accountability Lab, which focuses on advancing rigorous research to ensure AI systems are transparent, fair, and accountable. With a mission rooted in protecting historically marginalised communities, the Lab aims to address power imbalances and influence governance as AI becomes increasingly embedded in everyday life.

Organisers expressed gratitude to attendees who joined the live recording, as well as to The Digital Hub and collaborators Dee and Oisin from the Beár Bia podcast for their support in bringing the event together.

All proceeds from the evening were donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians.
