Dublin City Council and ADAPT Explore Practical AI Applications for Public Services

10 August 2026

A new article highlights the ongoing collaboration between Dublin City Council and ADAPT’s Gen AI Lab as they explore practical applications of artificial intelligence to support public service delivery.

One of the partnership’s early proof-of-concept projects focuses on improving access to decades of council meeting records and councillors’ questions. The initiative is examining how AI can help staff navigate large volumes of information more efficiently, enabling faster access to relevant records and insights.

The article also emphasises the importance of responsible innovation in the adoption of AI. Each project begins with a clearly defined operational challenge and is supported by governance frameworks, human oversight and evidence-based evaluation before any wider deployment is considered.

As the collaboration continues, a growing pipeline of AI projects is being developed across multiple council services, demonstrating how emerging technologies can support more efficient, responsive and citizen-focused public services while maintaining strong standards of accountability and oversight.
