Dr. Eileen Culloty Wins a DCU President’s Award for Exceptional Contribution to Media Literacy

03 April 2025

ADAPT’s Dr. Eileen Culloty, Assistant Professor at Dublin City University’s School of Communications and Deputy Director of the DCU Institute for Media, Democracy, and Society (FuJo), has been awarded a prestigious DCU President’s Award in the Staff category.

The accolade recognises Dr. Culloty’s outstanding dedication to advancing media literacy in Ireland and beyond. Through her leadership of the Media Literacy Community Connections project, she has empowered public librarians across the country to deliver essential media literacy skills to their local communities, an initiative that has become increasingly vital in the age of online misinformation.

Beyond her work at DCU, Dr. Culloty also serves as co-chair of Media Literacy Ireland and is a key voice in national policy discussions. She regularly briefs government committees and stands out as the only academic member involved in the working group developing Ireland’s National Counter Disinformation Strategy.
