ADAPT’s Education and Public Engagement team recently travelled to Brussels, where #DiscussAI was recognised as one of five finalists in the “Inclusion in the Digital World” category at the EU Digital Skills Awards 2026.
Although the project did not take home the overall award, being shortlisted among Europe’s leading digital inclusion initiatives is a significant achievement and recognition of #DiscussAI’s commitment to advancing AI literacy through public engagement and dialogue.
Led by Laura Grehan, Emma Clarke, Cara Greene and Jelena Radaković Goodwin, #DiscussAI brings together researchers, communities and partner organisations to ensure diverse voices help shape AI research and policy. The initiative focuses on making conversations about artificial intelligence more inclusive, particularly for communities that are often underrepresented in science and technology.
The nomination highlights the impact of collaborative approaches to digital inclusion and reflects the contributions of the many community partners, educators, ADAPT Centre researchers across Ireland’s universities, and stakeholders who have co-created #DiscussAI over the years.
The European Digital Skills Awards celebrate projects and organisations across Europe that are empowering people with essential digital skills through innovative and inclusive initiatives.
