Dublin City Council’s Building Control team and the Gen AI Lab have spent the past year exploring how Generative AI can support aspects of the Disability Access Certificate (DAC) process.
The initiative focused on identifying opportunities to reduce administrative effort, improve consistency and assist staff in reviewing large volumes of application documentation. Areas examined included document classification, information extraction and workflow support, while ensuring that all decisions remain under the oversight of qualified officers and specialists.
The project demonstrates how AI can be applied responsibly and transparently within local government to support staff and enhance public services.
