04 August 2025

Dr. Harish Kambampati, ADAPT Centre researcher at Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin), was recently awarded the Best Paper Award at the 16th International Conference on Applied Human Factors and Ergonomics (AHFE 2025) in the ‘Human Factors in Accessibility, Assistive Technology, and Digital Environments’ track. AHFE 2025 was held from 26th – 30th July in Orlando, Florida.

His paper, titled “A Monitoring Automation Recipe Cookbook: Simple Open-Source Solutions for Home-Based Support of People Living with Dementia and Their Caregivers”, presents practical, low-cost automation strategies using platforms such as Home Assistant. The research aims to enhance the quality of life for people living with dementia by supporting safety and independence at home, while also reducing the burden on caregivers. The “cookbook” approach enables easy adoption and customisation by non-technical users.

AHFE 2025 gathered over a thousand researchers and professionals from around the world to explore cutting-edge developments in human-centred design and assistive technologies.
