ADAPT TU Dublin Researcher Highlights Innovative Dementia Care Research at ICIMTH 2025 in Athens

25 July 2025

Dr. Harish Kambampati, researcher at ADAPT in TU Dublin, presented his latest research at the 2025 International Conference on Informatics, Management, and Technology in Healthcare (ICIMTH), held in Athens, Greece earlier this month. The conference, themed “Global Healthcare Transformation in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and Informatics,” gathered global experts to discuss cutting-edge developments in digital health and the evolving role of informatics in care innovation.

Dr. Kambampati presented his latest research paper titled “Indoor and Outdoor Mobility Monitoring for People Living with Dementia: Improving Their Independent Activity by Integrating Open Interface Sensors.” The study outlines the design and deployment of an open-source software-based context-aware support system combined with a network of indoor and outdoor sensors to support people living with dementia. The system is designed to deliver timely, personalised reminders to promote independence and reduce social isolation, while also easing the care burden on families and caregivers.

In addition to his own work, Dr. Kambampati also presented a second paper on behalf of colleague Jonathan Turner, titled “Progressive Release of Informational Materials for People Living with Dementia and Their Informal Carers.” This paper outlines a strategic approach to tailoring educational resources based on the progression of dementia, aiming to empower individuals and caregivers with timely, stage-appropriate information.

Both papers are now publicly accessible via the links below.
