ADAPT Spinout MoveAhead Featured in Business Post for Tackling Childhood Inactivity Through Innovation

14 July 2025

ADAPT spinout MoveAhead was recently featured in the Dublin Business Post, highlighting its rapid growth and impact in the edtech space. Founded by Dr Johann Issartel and Dr Jamie McGann, the company started in ADAPT at DCU in 2020 and has since raised €1.75 million, grown to a team of 10, and secured high-profile clients including the IRFU, Kinder, and Decathlon. With support from Enterprise Ireland, MoveAhead is tackling the rise in childhood inactivity by helping kids develop essential motor skills through engaging, tech-driven solutions.

In the interview with the Business Post, Issartel said:

“Modern children spend six hours a day on average being sedentary in front of a screen. The consequence is that kids don’t develop the motor skills that they should. We are bringing activities to that screen time. The whole family is involved in physical activities to get them moving and develop those motor skills. It is fun and educational at the same time.”
