Khizer Ahmed Biyabani, a researcher with ADAPT at Trinity College Dublin, has won the ‘Rising IT Star in the Public Sector’ award at the 2025 Digital Transformation and AI Awards. The recognition celebrates his leadership and contributions to Dublin City Council’s pioneering Gen AI Lab initiative.
Now in its third year, the awards honour outstanding innovation and excellence in digital transformation across Ireland’s public sector.
Khizer Biyabani’s win highlights the impact of the research and innovation taking place within the DCC GenAI Lab, an initiative that serves as a sandbox or a safe space for research, experimentation, and responsible AI deployment. The Lab is positioning Dublin City Council as a national leader in ethical AI adoption and digital transformation, bridging academic research and public service innovation.
The award was presented at a black-tie ceremony in Dublin’s Mansion House on Thursday, 16th October.
