ADAPT Researcher to speak on the Panel of Guardians of Ethical AI at CPDP 2023

How can ethics be a driver of innovation? ADAPT Centres Dr. Aphra Kerr is on the panel for Guardians of Ethical AI at the Computer, Privacy and Data Protection (CPDP) Conference 2023.

The CPDP is the EU’s leading interdisciplinary forum for legal, regulatory and academic debates on technological development and digital society.

With the GDPR, AI Act, and DSA, Europe has introduced important new legislation for governing the digital realm. However, developing the necessary literacy to understand morally acceptable actions and decisions in this area are not yet established. Infrastructures for assessment, oversight, and enforcement are not yet effectively in place. There is a need for a specific profession of digital ethicists who can implement good governance and conduct for AI and data practices.

The panel is taking place on the 25th of May at 8:45 am and is organised by the KU Leuven Digital Society Institute. CPDP takes place on the 24th-26th of May in Brussels.
