ADAPT Researcher Shortlisted for Rising IT Star in the Public Sector Award

14 October 2025

Khizer Ahmed Biyabani, a researcher with ADAPT at Trinity College Dublin, has been shortlisted in the 2025 Digital Transformation and AI Awards in recognition of his work in leading and supporting Dublin City Council’s Gen AI Lab.  The awards, now in their third year, celebrate outstanding innovation in digital transformation across Ireland’s public sector.

Other finalists in the ‘Rising IT Star in the Public Sector’ category include Meath County Council, Pobal, and Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO).

The winners will be announced at a black-tie ceremony in the Mansion House in Dublin on Thursday 16th October.

This nomination highlights the impact of the research and innovation taking place within the DCC GenAI Lab, an initiative that serves as a sandbox or a safe space for research, experimentation, and responsible AI deployment. The Lab is positioning Dublin City Council as a national leader in ethical AI adoption and digital transformation, bridging academic research and public service innovation.
