Professor Jane Ohlmeyer, a Principal Investigator at ADAPT and renowned historian at Trinity College Dublin, plays a central role in From That Small Island, a new RTÉ documentary series that re-examines Irish identity through the lenses of history, archaeology, and cutting-edge DNA research.
Narrated by actor Colin Farrell, the four-part series offers a bold and inclusive retelling of Ireland’s past, exploring the island’s deep-rooted hybridity and global connections. Professor Ohlmeyer collaborated closely with fellow historians and filmmakers to bring a more complex and globally informed perspective to the screen.
“This is a history that challenges myths,” says Ohlmeyer in the series. “We were the good guys and the bad guys. We had harm done to us and caused harm to others.”
From That Small Island premieres on RTÉ One this Sunday, June 8 at 6:30pm.
