16 March 2023

15 March, Dublin: ADAPT PhD Researcher, Awais Akbar (Trinity College Dublin), has co-written a conference paper featuring as part of the open access publication published from the proceedings of the 30th Irish Conference of Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science (AICS2022). This collection represents the best contributions received during AICS2022 and was first published online in February 2023.

The paper, titled Personalised Filter Bias with Google and DuckDuckGo: An Exploratory Study, was co-written with his colleagues Simon Caton (University College Dublin) and Ralf Bierig (Maynooth University). The paper focuses on personalisation within search engines and seeks to illustrate a methodology to quantify how three situational user variables affected personalisation across the search engines Google and DuckDuckGo.

AICS2022 took place in Ireland in December 2022 and this book is part of a series on Communications in Computer and Information Science. The AICS Conference is Ireland’s primary forum for researchers with interests in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science.
