On September 1st and 2nd the ADAPT Centre held two events focuesed on science and commercial activities within the Centre.
The aim of the Science Day was to share advances in the science and identify opportunities for further collaboration across research themes. The event featured keynote addresses on topics such as Machine Learning, poster exhibitions that promoted the work of different research groups, and conference style presentations from speakers across the four institutions involved in ADAPT to promote learning and collaboration across scientific areas. The event also addressed career development for researchers to ensure that ADAPT continues growing and developing its world-class research competencies.
The commercially focused event saw Professor Mark Ferguson, Director General of Science Foundation Ireland, open the event during which he recognised the excellent research capability of ADAPT and highlighted the importance of closely integrating research and industry. During the day researchers at the Centre addressed industry specific problems and brainstormed how ADAPT expertise and solutions could address the digital content issues facing a wide range of industries including the financial services sector, healthcare, media and government. The event also included a panel discussion with three of ADAPT’s industry partners from Deutsche Bank, Eir and Brite:Bill. The contributors discussed issues in their specific landscape which resulted in a frank and open discussion on possible avenues of resolution using ADAPT expertise.
ADAPT’s vision is to be a hub of expertise that supports collaborative innovation to unlock the potential of all digital content, empowering and enhancing engagement online between people, and to promote creativity and competitiveness for our partners.
