Thursday 26 November: This Friday the 27th November, ADAPT will showcase 4 projects at the European Researcher’s Night event, “Start Talking About Research Today“, hosted by TCD. European Researchers’ Night is a Europe-wide public event that brings researchers closer to the general public. This year the event will take place entirely online with researchers virtually meeting the public to showcase their work.
Artificial Intelligence in my Life: Citizens’ Think-In will take place from 17:30 to 19:00 on Friday with ADAPT researchers Harsh Pandit and Mohammed Al-Rawi leading discussions on some of the ethical issues we face in the digital age. This event is open to all members of the public aged 18 and over.
The Happy Maths Workshops, with Mariana Rocha from ADAPT TU Dublin, are also running the Code of Kells: Codes & Ciphers workshops for primary school students this week. Attendees will hear about the power of using ciphers in cryptography and will get to practise their own abilities by writing secret messages using different ciphers.
The MILLA: Online Language Practice with BelowHorizon’s language agent will be hosted by ADAPT researcher Emer Gilmartin and Neasa Ní Chiaráin (Centre for Language and Communication Studies, TCD) and will offer free online English, French, German and Spanish practice sessions on the prototype system. The event is perfect for Junior Cert and Leaving Cert students taking Irish or Modern Foreign Languages and to migrants who would like to improve their English.
ADAPT member, PJ Wall, will also lead a live demo of H2020 INTEGRITY. This will involve working through an interactive demonstration on the module “Technology” which will discuss issues around research integrity and proper research conduct when using technology in education, teaching and learning. This activity is aimed at secondary school students with sessions of 30 students each.
