Dr Yalemisew Abgaz, an Academic Collaborator with ADAPT-DCU, has been named the recipient of the Overall Academic Award at the 2026 DCU President’s Awards for Excellence in Teaching.
The award was presented at a ceremony in the Polaris Building on DCU’s Glasnevin Campus on the 21st May, recognising outstanding contributions to teaching and student learning across the university.
Dr Abgaz was recognised for his innovative approach to teaching DCU Futures Data Literacy and Analytics. His use of a microcurricula model was commended for delivering key data literacy and analytics concepts in a structured, interactive and flexible way, enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes.
Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Dáire Keogh said the awards celebrate those who help create a transformative student experience through teaching.
