Rob Brennan of the ADAPT Centre and UCD School of Computer Science has been appointed to the Data Architecture and Technical Committee (DATC) of Ireland’s National Data Governance Board. The committee plays a leading role in the development of technical guidelines and standards for data management, sharing, and governance across the Public Service under the Irish Data Sharing and Governance Act 2019.
Supporting this committee is part of the role of the Office of the Government CIO as part of its wider remit to design and implement our national data strategy within the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation.
Rob plans to connect his work in data space standards and AI governance, spanning the HSE MyHealth@IE programme, the Building Stories project, and ADAPT’s Regtech research, with wider government initiatives. His involvement will contribute to the DATC’s mission to promote secure and efficient data sharing, enhance digital collaboration, and accelerate infrastructure delivery across Ireland.
This appointment builds on the long standing ADAPT data governance collaboration with Tailte Éireann and the EMPOWER data governance spoke.
