ADAPT Academic Presents at Ageing Well in Later Life Profile Launch

13 May 2026

On Tuesday 12th May 2026, the Dublin South and Wicklow IHA Ageing Well in Later Life Older Adults Health and Wellbeing Profile was officially launched at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI).

Attendees were welcomed by Dr Diarmuid O’Shea, President, RCPI. Dr Colm Henry, Chief Clinical Officer, HSE, opened the event, with regional perspectives provided by Ms Martina Queally, Regional Executive Officer, HSE Dublin and South East Health Region. The occasion brought together older adult representatives, clinicians, public health specialists, service planners and academic collaborators to mark the publication of the Profile and accompanying population health indicator set, and to shape next steps for its use across the health service.

The Ageing Well in Later Life Profile was sponsored by the National Clinical Programme for Older People and is the result of significant collaboration between the HSE National Health Service Improvement Team, the National Health Intelligence Unit and Public Health HSE Dublin and South East. It provides a robust indicator set for older adult health and wellbeing and a scalable blueprint for use at IHA, regional and national level.

Central to this profile is the process through which it was developed, grounded in international best practice and shaped by extensive stakeholder engagement. The project benefited greatly from the expertise of academic collaborators including NCAD DesignLabs, UCD School of Medicine, UCD School of Computer Science, and the ADAPT Centre, UCD.  Dr Rob Brennan of ADAPT at UCD presented on ‘Data Catalogue lessons learned from Profile Development – steps towards the EHDS’.

Congratulations to the entire project team on bringing this important work from concept to completion.
