ALGOWATCH focuses on algorithmic literacy and disinformation. It has two main goals: highlighting the threat that algorithmic disinformation has on democracy and supporting media literacy professionals. Algowatch does this by addressing new disinformation forms, engaging participants through games and events, training mediators like teachers and journalists, and disseminating knowledge through innovative strategies.
Join Algowatch at #ExploreAI to try out interactive games and quizzes that develop digital skills and critical thinking about the benefits and challenges of accessing online information about topics like climate; health and well-being and democracy.
Join us at European Researchers’ Night for a fun-filled evening of discovery!
Kids, parents, and everyone curious are invited to explore the amazing world of artificial intelligence through interactive puzzles and activities.
Learn cool facts, and meet real scientists who will guide you along the way. It’s an exciting night where learning becomes an adventure for the whole family!
Explore museum accessibility by focusing on audio description, a key tool for making art inclusive for blind and low-vision visitors. In this interactive activity, you’ll be shown an image and challenged to distinguish between a human-written and an AI-generated description. Then, you’ll have the chance to try writing your own.
This activity raises awareness of how words shape access to art, while encouraging empathy, creativity and a deeper understanding of how technology can support inclusive cultural experiences.
Ever wondered about the brilliant minds behind cutting-edge AI? Join our pop-up talks throughout the evening to hear directly from researchers at the ADAPT Centre about their work.
These short, engaging talks will give you a unique look into the latest breakthroughs and what’s next in artificial intelligence research.
Step into a high-resolution, interactive 3D model of Dublin’s Docklands. The Docklands 3D Digital Twin is a powerful tool that helps urban planners, stakeholders, and the public explore development scenarios in a visually rich environment.
This cutting-edge model shows how spatial data can support smarter, more transparent urban planning. Accessible on desktop, web and VR, it offers a glimpse into how digital twins are shaping a more connected and sustainable future for our cities. Smart Docklands is a collaboration between Dublin City Council and CONNECT Research Ireland Centre.
The Active Travel Digital Twin is a major step toward a more sustainable and transparent Dublin. Led by Dublin City Council and its partners, this interactive dashboard brings together open data from Strava, Google and other sources into one visually engaging platform.
Explore how this tool is making a real-world impact by helping citizens and stakeholders monitor trends, evaluate investments, and make evidence-informed decisions about active travel.
Step into the world of logic, puzzles, and creativity with the PACT team from the Department of Computer Science, Maynooth University. Our interactive stand features hands-on activities that spark curiosity and teach core computer science concepts, no screens needed!
Test your brain powers with printed Bebras computational thinking puzzles, play logic-based board games, and program Sphero Indi robot cars using colour-coded mats. The PACT team creates unplugged computational thinking classroom resources for primary and secondary schools throughout Ireland.
Think you can spot the difference between human creativity and artificial intelligence? Join a fun and interactive challenge where you’ll try to distinguish between texts written by a person and those generated by an AI.
This is a fascinating way to get hands-on with generative AI and see how far the technology has come. Your participation will also help us with important research, offering valuable insights into how we perceive AI-generated content.

The ADAPT All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad (AILO) workshop series is underway. AILO challenges students to solve problems in little known languages from all over the globe. Free workshops are taking place in secondary schools all over the island between late September and early January 2024.
The workshops aim to improve students’ problem-solving and language awareness skills and help prepare them to take part in the AILO competition in schools in January. This year, as well as improving their lateral thinking and team-working skills, students compete to represent Ireland in Brazil in July 2024. Sign up for free workshops at ailo.adaptcentre.ie/workshops.
Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to transform the world we live in. This workshop will give second-level students and teachers a fun introduction to the AI in My Life school workshop series. In this 90-min. taster workshop, students will: learn about AI; uncover some of the ethical and privacy implications of AI; and evaluate the role of AI in their lives and in society.
Delivered by the Science Foundation Ireland ADAPT Research Centre, the workshop will help students navigate the Age of AI safely and successfully.
