MoveAhead Wins Tech for Good Award for SmartMoves Initiative

24 November 2025

ADAPT spinout MoveAhead has won the Tech for Good award at the Ibec Technology Ireland Awards 2025, earning national recognition for SmartMoves, its movement-focused initiative delivered across schools and communities in Dublin.

Founded in 2020 by Dr. Johann Issartel and Dr. Jamie McGann, MoveAhead began as an ADAPT spinout and has grown into a rising Irish tech company. Developed in response to increasingly sedentary lifestyles, the platform uses body-tracking technology to prompt movement through safe, personalised, and engaging interactions. SmartMoves was built through a close partnership with Smart D8, The Digital Hub Development Agency, The Liberties Community Project, and the ADAPT Centre.

The win places MoveAhead among standout finalists including TikTok, Workday, and Fidelity Investments, each presenting initiatives with clear social impact across Ireland. This recognition strengthens MoveAhead’s mission to use playful, evidence-based technology that helps children move more, build confidence, and develop essential skills.
