Emerging Multidisciplinary Computing Visions: Early-Stage Researchers Shaping Shared Futures


Are you an early-stage researcher* working on AI and data governance?

*Eligible applicants include Master’s students and PhD candidates.

 

Join our interactive workshop at CPDP, which brings together early-stage researchers (ESRs) and experts from academia, industry, civil society, and policymaking for in-depth discussions on research, policy and real-world challenges and opportunities in the area of AI and data governance. 

What to Expect:

  • Present your research-in-progress to an interdisciplinary audience
  • Discuss the practical and policy implications of your research with experts and practitioners
  • Gain insights into opportunities and challenges in digital regulation from diverse perspectives
  • Engage in discussions on career opportunities 

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Alignment between the European competitiveness with EU digital regulations
  • Digital Omnibus and consistency of EU digital regulatory frameworks
  • Implications of AI regulation for the European economy 
  • Global challenges and opportunities in general-purpose AI systems 
  • Future of AI policymaking: Evidence-based, participatory, and cross-sector approaches 
  • Regulatory technology (RegTech) solutions for compliance with AI and data regulations
  • Cross-border data flows and data sovereignty
  • AI auditing, oversight, and journalism
  • Implementation and enforcement challenges of AI and data regulation
  • Multi-level AI governance and the protection of fundamental rights.

Five ESRs will be selected and notified by mid March.

 

This is an in-person event, and attendance requires registration for the CPDP conference, taking place from 19 to 22 May 2026 in Brussels.

The workshop will run for 2 hours and 30 minutes. This interactive double-slot workshop includes two parts:

  1. Each ESR will present their novel research and discuss their research in an interactive session.
  2. Experts will discuss the opportunities and challenges for ESRs in the international digital regulatory space and share their experiences.
