Rob’s main research interests are data governance, cybersecurity risk, data protection, data value, data quality, knowledge graphs, and AI governance. Rob is an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science, University College Dublin and a Principal Investigator of the EMPOWER data governance spoke. He is the founding Chair of the DCU MA in Data Protection and Privacy: Law & Computing. As a Funded investigator in ADAPT, Rob leads the Value and Risk challenge in the Transparent Digital Governance research strand. He has a long history of involvement with EU projects back to 1998. Most recently he was coordinator of the H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie project ELITE-S on ICT standards and the H2020 ALIGNED project on software and data engineering. He was Prinicipal Investigator on the ADAPT-Ordnance Survey Ireland project publishing Ireland’s reference geospatial data as Linked Data on the web and the ARK (Access Risk Knowledge) Virus project with the TCD Centre for Innovative Human Systems and St James’s Hospital Dublin.
