Pilib is an Assistant Professor in Bioinformatics in the School of Mathematical & Statistical Sciences at University of Galway, where he directs the MSc Programmes in Biomedical Genomics and Genomics Data Science. His group is engaged in highly innovative and impactful research in precision medicine, with a particular interest in cancer genomics, immunology, and neuropsychiatric genetics. A large part of this work focuses on the development and application of statistical and machine learning approaches for the integration of genetic and clinical data, in order to identify biomarkers for the prediction of disease progression, treatment response, and relapse risk. In addition to being an ADAPT funded investigator, he is a Research Theme Lead in the SFI Centre for Research Training (CRT) in Genomics Data Science and leads University of Galway’s involvement in a €10.5M DTIF-funded project on cancer immunotherapies and a €4M HEA North-South project on cancer liquid biopsies.
