Mary Sharp B.Sc(Comp), M.A., CEng FIEI, F.I.C.S. FRAMI Chartered Engineer

Mary Sharp graduated from Trinity College Dublin (1988) in Computer Science. She is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland, Irish Computer Society and the Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland. She is a Chartered Engineer. She is a member of the Council of the ICS and an executive member of HISI (Health Informatics Society of Ireland). She is Chair of the Ethics and Disciplinary Board and also a member of the Membership and Qualifications Board of Engineers Ireland. She is a Visiting Research Fellow in the School of Computer Science and Statistics, Trinity College Dublin. In the School she is a member of the Ethics committee. Her research interests are in the area of health Informatics and include: Security, Standards, Ethics and eLearning. She is a member of CEN TC251 WGIII Safety, Security and Quality representing the National Standards Institute of Ireland (NSAI) in addition to being a member of the Irish mirror group on Safety, Security and Quality under the NSAI (HISC). She is a regular Evaluator and Reviewer for Research Grant Applications on behalf of the EU in the areas of Information Technology in Health, Ethics, Safety, Security and Quality in health care. She is the Irish delegate to IMIA (International Medical Informatics Association) and EFMI (European Federation of Medical Informatics).
