Iva-Nicole Mavrlja

PhD Researcher

Iva-Nicole’s PhD project explores the ongoing digital transformation in the Irish police service, An Garda Síochána. She examines the introduction and governance of emerging digital and AI policing technologies, and the impact these technologies have on communities in Ireland with respect to surveillance and privacy.

Iva-Nicole holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Law and Criminology and a master’s degree in Comparative Criminology and Criminal Justice from Maynooth University. She received the ‘Research Ireland’ PhD Scholarship with the ADAPT Centre in 2023 to pursue her PhD research under the supervision of Prof Aphra Kerr and Dr Ciara Bracken-Roche.
