Email Address: [email protected]

Iona is a phonetician interested in exploring how humans perceive and produce speech – in particular, how and why they adapt their speech to different interlocutors, for example, virtual agents. She joined the ADAPT Centre in April 2022 as a postdoctoral researcher in the UCD School of Information and Communication Studies under the supervision of Benjamin Cowan after completing her PhD in phonetics at Saarland University (Saarbrücken, Germany). In October 2023, she became a member of Julie Berndsen’s team at the UCD School of Computer Science. Her role involves querying speech recognition models for phonetic information.
