Esraa Ali is a postdoctoral researcher in Adapt Centre (DCU), working in the area of proactive personalization and modeling user profiles using knowledge graphs. Her main research interest centers on how personalization can enhance information retrieval systems. In September 2021, Esraa earned her PhD degree in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin. Her PhD research was in the area of personalization and faceted search systems. Her thesis introduced several type-based facet ranking approaches based on user interests.

Before starting her PhD, Esraa used to work as Big Data Technical Consultant at ITWORX with experience in developing advanced analytics and Big Data projects for Government, Telecommunication and Enterprises entities. Areas of expertise include system architecture, design, and development. She holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science from Helwan University, 2006; and a M. Sc. in Software Engineering from Nile University, 2011, the research was in the area of data mining and machine learning.
