Email Address: [email protected]

Dr Cara Greene is Education and Public Engagement Projects Lead at ADAPT. Among the core education programmes that Cara coordinates is the All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad (AILO), Ireland’s largest Science Olympiad with over 3,000 participants annually in all 32 counties of Ireland. AILO aims to help secondary students hone their linguistic problem-solving skills; increase students’ confidence in tackling complex problems and inspire students to consider the fascinating range of careers at the intersection of computing, language and linguistics. Cara collaborated with the Post-Primary Languages Initiative to introduce Linguistics to the Irish second-level curriculum via a new Transition Year module on Linguistics. Launched in September 2022, the module has already engaged more than 3,500 students and 350 teachers. Cara also drives ADAPT’s programme of cross-curriculum continuing professional development on digital literacy and ethics for teachers in association with Oide, the Government-funded support service for teachers and school leaders.
