Dr David Coyle is an Associate Professor with the School of Computer Science at University College Dublin and member of the HCI@UCD group. He is a Funded Investigator with ADAPT. His research focuses on the design of digital health technologies and in particular digital mental health. Within ADAPT he also focuses on understanding the experience of agency in interactions with intelligent systems. Recent activities include the coordinator role for the EU funded TEAM ITN, an interdisciplinary PhD training network investigating the design of technology supporting assessment, prevention and treatment of mental health difficulties in young people. His research in digital mental health has included therapeutic computer games and mobile apps to support adolescents and online/blended systems to support mental health interventions for adults. David was the lead-designer in the early development of the widely use SilverCloud health platform. He is a co-founder of Handaxe CIC, a non-profit company aiming to make mental health technologies low-cost, including and widely available to all.
