New Strategic Partnership to Support ICT Standardisation

27 July 2021

A new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between StandICT.eu 2023, the European Observatory for ICT Standardisation (EUOS) and the Elite-S (Elite Standards) Fellowship Programme run by the SFI ADAPT Centre.  The strategic partnership aims to establish reciprocal support in sharing and disseminating both project’s opportunities to a wide range of European Standards specialists and ICT Researchers.

ELITE-S(Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND Action) is a postdoctoral fellowship programme for intersectoral training, career development and mobility that offers 16 prestigious, two-year fellowships, in technology and standards development to address 5 EU priority areas: 5G, Internet of Things, Cloud computing, Cybersecurity and Data technologies. Experienced researchers of any nationality can enhance their qualifications and diversify their competences by conducting a research project at a host institution in Ireland in any of the research and technology application areas of the programme.

StandICT.eu funds European ICT experts through a series of Open Calls to participate in international Standardisation Developing Organisations Working Groups covering wide-ranging topics such as 5G and fixed networks, IoT, Cybersecurity, Data, Cloud Computing, Quantum Technologies, AI, Blockchain, Smart Cities, Industry 4.0, and eHealth.  StandICT.eu 2023 is also represented by EUOS – Observatory for ICT Standardisation, an interactive platform that will monitor the global ICT Standardisation landscape, with a key focus to provide the community of ICT experts the most accurate coverage of relevant and timely ICT Standards.

Speaking about the partnership Professor Rob Brennan, ADAPT academic at DCU ad Elite-S Coordinator, said: “Establishing this partnership with StandICT.eu2023 reinforces our commitment to the Standardisation ecosystem. There are many opportunities between both our projects and together we’ll be able to cause a much greater impact in ICT Standards in Europe. We want our fellows to engage and offer their specialized knowledge in their area of expertise and join the several working groups and actively contribute to the EUOS”.

Francesco Osimanti, vice-coordinator of StandiCT.eu 2023 said: “StandICT.eu 2023 and Elite-S have a rooted and longstanding synergy that stems from the mutual objective of supporting the European community of ICT Standards experts. The signature of this MoU is a step forward in paving the way to a fruitful collaboration: we are sure that StandICT.eu will be in the position to benefit of the skills and knowledge of Elite-S students, researchers and PhDs to enrich the EUOS Technical Working Groups and to support them as Fellows within the Open Call framework.”
