Cyber Citizens, the Research Ireland-funded national initiative focused on digital resilience and cyber literacy, was among the exhibitors at this year’s National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, Tullamore.
Running from 15–17 September, the Championships attracted 243,000 visitors over three days. At the Cyber Citizens stand, visitors had the opportunity to learn more about cybersecurity and digital resilience, with Space Store bringing the subject to life through an immersive virtual experience exploring the importance of cybersecurity in space. Dr Rachel Farrell, Principal Investigator and Director of the UCD Centre for Cyber Resilience Education, described the activity as part of the project’s wider ambition to build safer digital communities through education, participation and public leadership.
Cyber Citizens is led by the UCD Centre for Cyber Resilience Education in partnership with ADAPT at Trinity College Dublin, Webwise, PittCyber and other national and international partners. The two-year initiative works with young people and families through Cyber Sense, while Cyber Smart engages elected representatives and public officials on cyber resilience, digital trust and responsible participation in an increasingly AI-enabled society.
