Enterprise Ireland’s €100,000 Pre-Seed Start Fund investment will support the growth of Amethyst Care’s AI voice companion, helping older adults stay independent at home for longer.
Amethyst Care, the Irish health technology company developing an AI voice companion for older adults, has been awarded €100,000 in Pre-Seed Start Fund (PSSF) funding from Enterprise Ireland.
Founded by Rebecca McManus, Amethyst Care combines AI voice technology with remote health monitoring to help older people remain independent in their own homes for longer. The platform provides medication reminders, wellbeing check-ins and ongoing data collection, enabling clinicians to gain a more complete picture of a person’s health over time and identify potential intervention points before hospital admission becomes necessary. The research side of the project is led by Professor Vinny Wade, Chair of AI at Trinity’s School of Computer Science and Statistics and former Director at the Research Ireland ADAPT Centre.
The funding comes as the company continues its growth journey, including the recent launch of its office in Mentor, Ohio, expanding its presence in the United States. The team will also be kicking off a seed-round to seek further investment to scale the business.
Rebecca founded Amethyst Care by bringing together her experience in the technology sector and her personal experience as a caregiver for her parents. The company’s mission is to address loneliness and isolation, key contributors to hospital readmissions, while supporting healthier ageing at home.
The Enterprise Ireland investment will support the continued development and commercialisation of Amethyst Care’s AI-powered solution as the company scales across healthcare and home care markets.
