A new report, Understanding and Countering Dis/Misinformation from a Multilingual and Minority Language Perspective, has been published as the final output of the MULTIDISIN project.
The report explores the challenges posed by disinformation and misinformation in multilingual and minority-language contexts, with a particular focus on Irish and other under-researched European languages. Drawing on perspectives from linguistics, natural language processing (NLP), journalism, political science and public policy, it examines how language diversity shapes the spread, detection and mitigation of false and misleading information.
The report was produced through the MULTIDISIN project, which was funded by Research Ireland’s New Foundations Programme (Strand 1c: Interdisciplinary Research Networking Awards) and supported by the DCU FuJo Institute and the ADAPT Centre.
The publication reflects insights generated through the project’s webinar series and contributions from experts across multiple disciplines.
